Ahtna Global, LLC, is pleased to announce the addition of Dennis Brownley, PE, as its new Great Plains Regional Director based out of San Antonio, Texas. This geographic area consists of all the central states, from Texas to the Canadian border. Mr. Brownley has more than 45 years of experience as an operations manager, program manager, and business development manager. Twenty-one of those years were with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a Base Bioenvironmental Engineer at four installations worldwide. During his career, he has managed over $1.8 Billion of obligated funds for USAF and Department of Energy (DOE) installations. Mr. Brownley has managed the environmental restoration and remediation activities at over 3,500 Department of Defense and DOE sites contaminated with hazardous and mixed wastes. He led the successful resolution of engineering and environmental issues including restoration, remediation, design, construction, hazardous waste, air quality, water quality, NEPA, compliance, and pollution prevention. Mr. Brownley earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming, and an MS In Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas – Austin
Ahtna Global, LLC welcomes Maggie Huffer into the Business Development Department as a Senior Proposal Group Manager. Maggie will work out of the Renton, Washington office and will provide national proposal support to the AEI, AES, AGL, ASL, and AITL team. She is certified through the Association of Proposal Management Professionals and has 19 years of experience managing and writing proposals for federal, state, and local clients. Maggie previously worked as a Senior Proposal Manager at Bristol Alliance of Companies for more than nine years, and as a Proposal Manager/Coordinator and Technical Editor at Tetra Tech for 10 years. She has experience supporting a variety of service lines to include vertical and civil construction, environmental, engineering, range construction and sustainment, fuels services, and demolition. In her free time she enjoys running, being at home with the love of her life, Rick, and their two cats, and spending time with family and friends. In the past three years Maggie has finished seven half-marathons and someday hopes to conquer the full marathon. She is happy to join the Ahtna family and looks forward to contributing to the growth and prosperity of the companies and future Ahtna generations.
AES is pleased to welcome Marlena (Marty) Brewer, as a Senior Chemist to help develop the chemistry program to meet the growing needs in Alaska. She has over 20 years of professional experience in biomolecular research, environmental laboratory analysis, environmental consulting, and working in an environmental regulatory capacity. Marty holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Arkansas. She came to Alaska with her husband for a 3-year tour, but they have been here for over 20 years. They have two boys in high school and love spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Marty is a runner and gardener, mostly running her beagle Maddie out of her garden. She has noticed a lot of familiar faces at Ahtna that she has worked with in various capacities over the years, and looks forward to meeting new people. She is excited to be working with data, as weird as that may seem, but believes that the decisions we make are only as good as the data we have to inform those decisions.
Nelson Crone joins AEI as the firm’s GIS Specialist. Crone is skilled working with Geographic Information Systems data for a variety of visual and computational purposes. He works with Global Positioning System equipment and has provided operation, ArcCollector deployment and operation, ArcPad, and other various data collection techniques for field technicians. He works with remote sensing systems performing image analysis and has worked with UAV systems creating imagery products. He has also worked with SDSFIE database creation for federal projects and has worked with EQuIS databases for environmental data. Crone has a master’s degree in GIS for Development and Environment from Clark University and a bachelor’s of science degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Alaska Fairbanks
Michael Selhay joins Ahtna Environmental, Inc., as a Senior Construction Manager with more than 18 years of construction and management experience leading all phases of construction planning and development, design coordination, and contract administration. Selhay earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Construction Management from Arizona State University and attended the Del E. Webb School of Construction. Selhay was the Project Manager of the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) Culinary Arts Facility Project and the Dormitory Replacement project in Seward, Alaska, which both won the 2011 & 2013 Alaska General Contractor’s Challenge Award for the $5M-$15M project category.
Morgan Bruno, PE, joins Ahtna Engineering Services, LLC, as a Project Manager. Bruno is an environmental engineer with nine years of experience including preparation of remedial investigation/feasibility study-related documents; data evaluation; groundwater, surface water, soil, sediment, and vapor intrusion sampling; geoprobe, hollow stem auger, and sonic drilling oversight; risk analysis; non-aqueous phase liquid mobility analysis; and bench-scale treatability experiments, among others. She holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University and a bachelor’s degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Idaho
Ahtna Environmental, Inc. welcomes David (Dave) Bennett to its team as Business Development Director. With a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and 24 years of experience, Bennett has a solid background in understanding client operations, needs, planning, and project execution. His professional strengths are opportunity identification and capture, client relationship building, teaming partner engagement, proposal and presentation preparation, and service line expansion.
Daniel Caldwell has been promoted to Construction Manager and Estimator. Caldwell has 21 years of construction experience where he has managed major mixed-use commercial, civil, environmental, and infrastructure development projects throughout local and remote areas of Alaska, the contiguous United States, and Canada requiring logistics management expertise. A skilled estimator, Caldwell uses sound business strategies to improve bottom-line performance while maintaining maximum customer satisfaction.
After four years of successfully managing construction programs at Ahtna, Ron DesGranges has been promoted to Director of Construction. DesGranges has 19 years of project management, construction, and estimating experience for a wide array of both horizontal and vertical construction projects in Alaska. He has supervised a multitude of large and small projects with annual budgets of up to $500 million. DesGranges is especially skilled with the execution of projects located in remote locations requiring complex logistic coordination.
Lori Kropidlowski, CPSM, CPS/CAP has been promoted to Business Development Manager at Ahtna Environmental, Inc. Kropidlowski has 26 years of experience in business development and marketing and is a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) through the Society of Marketing Professional Services. She is responsible for all business development and marketing activities for AEI as well as two of its sister subsidiaries, Ahtna Global, LLC and Ahtna Environmental, Inc. Active in the community, Kropidlowski serves on the board of directors for both the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Anchorage Post. She is a lifelong Alaskan, born in Fairbanks and raised in Anderson and Anchorage.
